Wildlife

For Carlos, wildlife is an open invitation to art. A fragment, a gesture or a texture can be enough to understand an animal. His love of travel and nature has taken him to very different environments, and his images suggest that awareness and emotion are not exclusive to humans.

People

A single portrait can hold an entire story: a moment, a place, sometimes a wider reality. Children often take center stage, with expressions that are honest and unfiltered. Close to home or in distant countries, these portraits connect different worlds through something simple and universal, being human.

Vida

Vida grows from the meeting point of Carlos's two practices, medicine and photography. As a pediatric surgeon, he built this body of work over years in a place where decisions are urgent, emotions run high and human presence is absolute: the operating room.

About

Carlos Gandara

Carlos Gandara's photography began as a practical tool, a way to document how his patients' conditions changed over time. What started inside the hospital slowly became a more intuitive and expressive way of seeing.

His work has since moved beyond the clinic, yet it stays connected to it, above all in his sensitivity when photographing children, shaped by his years in pediatrics. A love of travel and nature took him further, and his gaze now moves between people and places.
